Crisis Statement

Sanitation entrepreneurs receiving ‘startup’ micro-credit financing are often not registered with their local governments. The current solution links MFI lending to entrepreneurs to quality certification through the issuing of trade certificates. The problem with this is that higher incentives for trade certificates creates higher risks of rent seeking behaviour.

 

Needs Statement

We need to create an open data platform at the local level that makes the license approval process subject to scrutiny.
